Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is designed to highlight the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care, and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care. Airway management and related pharmacology are also covered. Basic ECG rhythm identification is reviewed as it pertains to ACLS algorithms and treatment. Skills are taught in group sessions and small breakout sessions that include testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented.
The course includes simulated clinical scenarios that encourage active, hands-on participation through learning stations where students practice essential skills individually, as part of a team, and as team leader.
Successful completion of the course results in the issuance of the American Heart Association ACLS Provider eCard evidencing this accomplishment.
