American Heart Association Instructor Courses
We do offer AHA Instructor Courses in BLS (Heartsaver Included as a BLS Instructor), ACLS, and PALS. If you are interested in becoming an AHA Instructor, read the following carefully:
- All prospective instructors need to be preapproved to attend an instructor course in BLS, ACLS, and/or PALS.
- We can accept applicants from anywhere in the United States, however, the instructor course(s) are held locally in the Phoenix, AZ metro area. You must be willing to travel for the instructor class if you do not reside locally. In some cases, we may be able to provide instructor training through one of our affiliated training sites in other states. After completing the inquiry form, we can let you know if we can provide a local instructor course. Existing instructors transferring from another TC can be from anywhere and will not need to travel to Arizona, as we can do a virtual course monitoring via Zoom.
- The first step is to complete the Instructor Inquiry Form (click on the link).
- There are prerequisites to becoming an AHA instructor for any discipline. You must be at least 18 years of age for BLS, and ACLS and PALS require you to hold a healthcare credential / license. The advanced disciplines will generally require the instructor candidate to have status as a Paramedic, Respiratory Therapist, LPN, RN, MD, or DO. Other healthcare titles and functions may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- There is a significant financial commitment that is required in becoming an AHA Instructor, as there is required equipment and materials needed to deliver AHA courses.
- For ACLS and/or PALS Instructor, you must already hold a valid BLS Instructor card, or be willing to take the BLS Instructor course before attending the ACLS and/or PALS Instructor course.
- We are a national training center (TC) listed under the AHA as TC ID AZ20967.
The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the AHA.
