Skills Session Information (Parts 2 and 3)
Parts 2 and 3 are done in-person
We GUARANTEE that your institution will accept your course completion or Provider eCard for BLS, ACLS, or PALS.
In these busy times, some people prefer taking the first part of their BLS, ACLS, or PALS instruction in the blended learning format offered by the American Heart Association: HeartCode BLS, ACLS, or PALS, Heartsaver First Aid-CPR-AED, Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid-CPR-AED, Heartsaver First Aid, or Heartsaver CPR-AED. These courses are offered for initial or renewal training, and they have the same completion requirements that the classroom-based equivalent courses do. All the blended learning options include access to the related E-textbook in the price of the course.
Students who successfully complete Part 1 receive a certificate that allows them entrance into a skills practice and testing session. An AHA course completion or Provider eCard will be issued upon successful completion of all three parts following successful completion of the skills session. You must complete the online portion before registering for, or attending a skills session.
The online component of the course is only the first step in obtaining initial or renewal of your BLS, ACLS, PALS or Heartsaver skills. Desert Education Solutions offers the complete online course plus the Skills Session for BLS, ACLS, PALS, and all of the online Heartsaver courses. If you purchase the entire blended learning course for BLS, ACLS, PALS, or Heartsaver courses through Desert Education Solutions, your skills session is already included in the price of the course. The time it takes to complete the practice and skills session is very dependent on the individual and how much practice is desired, how many questions need to be answered, and whether or not additional instruction is required before the skills validation section. We do not want any student to feel hurried or rushed in any way, as it is far more important to gain the important skills and understanding of the principles than simply to rush right into a testing phase. As such, we provide each student complete control over the length of her or his skills session.
If you already have taken the online Part 1 of a course and have your certificate, you can schedule your skills session on the Class Registration page, and select the "Skills Session Only" option listed under your course type.

The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the AHA.
