ACLS & PALS Precourse Work Option (click to download)
- This important option will significantly reduce the in-class time, as well as having the benefit of allowing students to be better prepared for the course. Advise students that these precourse work modules will take 3-4 hours to complete online, BEFORE the class.
- The specific course for ACLS can be found at https://elearning.heart.org/course/424
- The specific course for PALS can be found at https://elearning.heart.org/course/426
- These satisfy video requirements for ACLS Provider, ACLS Update, PALS Provider, and PALS Update. If you utilize this method, you MUST upload copies of the Certificates of Completion to Enrollware, as completion documentation is required for all eLearning courses.
Website Guidelines for Instructors:
- Textbooks are always required to be held and available to be purchased at point-of-arrival of any student taking an instructor-led course. There can be no reference to "renting" a book for the class, as this violates the AHA PAM in a number of ways, and it it strictly prohibited to advertise or promote the use of rental textbooks on your website. This also includes placing links to textbook rental sites of any kind that promotes the practice of renting a textbook for the course.
- You absolutely may NOT display any graphics of course completion or Provider cards on your website, email signatures, or promotional materials produced by the training site.
- The AHA "Heart and Torch" logo will not be displayed ANYWHERE on the website, email signatures, promotional materials, or any other medium as that is strictly prohibited by the AHA. That logo is strictly reserved on the part of the printed exams, and there is no exception to that rule.
- There are NO acceptable graphics allowed featuring the AHA except for the seal guidelines that are noted below in the separate section. All references from previous graphics are expressly disallowed per the revised AHA policy. Seal guidelines must be adhered to in their entirely, and upon such display of the seal, the instructor must contact tcc@deserteducation.com for approval when the seal is posted on the website for review. If there are significant deviations noted, the instructor shall promptly remove such graphics within 24-hours' notice and may repost and submit a request for a re-review when reposted to verify that it conforms with the guidelines. If a minor deficiency is noted upon review, you will receive appropriate notice to correct the specific deficiency. Graphics may not be altered in any way, other than resizing while maintaining horizontal and vertical proportions.
- You must ensure that the following notice is posted on ALL pages of your website: "The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the AHA." This is understood to also include all points of sale, including if using a third-party software registration system.
Instructor Seal Guidelines:
- AFFILIATION: The Instructor seal must always contain a line text defining which TC the instructor is affiliated with: [INSTRUCTOR NAME] is aligned with Desert Education Solutions in Goodyear, Arizona. Note that using the Instructor seal does NOT allow the instructor to affiliate with a Training Site (TS), only a Training Center (TC).
- GENERAL RULES: The seals consist of three elements—the AHA logo in the center with the ®, surrounded by red and gray circles, then the text “Authorized Training Center, and “Aligned Instructor” on the outside of the circle. It must only be used in its entirety with all three elements. The “®” denotes that the signature is a registered mark owned by the American Heart Association. The Instructor seal must also include the phrase, "Aligned with Desert Education Solutions in Goodyear, Arizona." The TC mentioned should be the one relevant to the event / correspondence of that particular flyer / email or website posting.
- WHERE AND WHEN THIS SEAL IS USED: The seals must be used in conjunction with a reference to AHA ECC, CPR, First Aid or other lifesaving courses offered by the Instructor. The seal may only be used on marketing and promotion of AHA training, never on any independent training or instructional materials created by the Instructor. Any materials or displays of the Instructor seal must clearly depict to the average viewer that the materials or displays are issued by the Instructor, and may not give the impression that the materials or displays are issued by the AHA. The seal must be shown in its entirety, and cannot be screened back or used as background art.
- SPACING: The width of the heart represents the amount of clear space that must be present around the seal at all times. No matter the dimension of the seal, the clear space will always be based off of the width of the heart.
- MINIMUM SIZE: For clarity and legibility, the heart / torch in the seal should always exceed 3/8 inch.
- NO ALTERATIONS: Graphics may not be altered in any way, other than resizing while maintaining horizontal and vertical proportions. Colors may not be changed.
- AHA SEAL AND INSTRUCTOR NAME / LOGO RELATIONSHIP: Seal must be used with the Instructor name or logo (never alone). Seal must be visually separated from the Instructor name / logo by white space the width of the seal circle or 1 inch, whichever is larger. The seal must be smaller in height and width than the Instructor name / logo. Ideally, the seal is 50% or smaller than the size of the Instructor name / logo.
- SAMPLES REQUIRED: The seal design can not be altered in any way. AHA will periodically audit the use of the seal. Samples will be randomly selected for auditing purposes to ensure proper usage. Any required changes will be communicated to the TC.
